About Us

We are Carter and Faye Mayberry, from southeastern Arizona. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our 21-year-old son, Ashton, suffered from depression and anxiety and took his own life on January 28, 2014. As a result, we are becoming experts in healthy grieving. We are choosing to grieve with God's guidance.

We write to help those who are overwhelmed by the suicide of a loved one -- and others who are grieving -- strengthen their motivation to find healing and peace.

Several of our Facebook readers have commented that they are touched and inspired by what we have written. Some have suggested that we start a blog so that those outside our immediate circle might benefit from our experience -- both now and in the future. Currently, most of our readers are people we know. Are there others who have been affected by suicide who might also benefit from our experience?

Frankly, some of the benefit for us is the powerful healing that comes from writing. Writing helps swallow up some of the grief and helps us manage it more productively. We have shed (and likely will shed) many tears mourning our son's death. We greatly appreciate the love and support of so many people in our community. By expanding our audience to a blog, some of our readers will not know us personally, but we hope what we have written will still be helpful.

We are finding that there are many on this earth who have been affected by suicide. Our hearts reach out to you.
